Robin Hood day was held on Friday 9th October for Year Four. The children were invited to come into school dressed as a character from Robin Hood and bring appropirate weaponry with them.
The aim of the day was to give ALL the children the experience of playing at Robin Hood so we can use that experience to improve their writing, during the Historical Story writing work we are doing at the moment.
During the morning, the children got to play games in the copse at the bottom of our school grounds, creeping around and trying to sneak past the Sheriff of Nottingham. They then got to fight with swords and shoot arrows from their bows. After the mayhem Mr E took a small group fo children from both classes and they made up a story which they turned into a film called Robin Hood to the Rescue..we have used the film to give us a story to write about in our English lessons.
(The film this year is too big a file to play from this website, Mr E is trying to find a way of reducing the size of the film to put it on the net.)
Here are some pictures from the day.

We took loads of pictures, if you wish to see any more please ask Mr E. If you would like digital copies ask Mr E.
We had a great time and our writing has been pretty good too.
Sun light gleaming on their swords Robin’s men ran forward going in for the kill, charging down the hill ready to slice the soldiers into pieces no mercy shown. Metal crashing together soldiers dodging the swords and trying to shield themselves. Arrows flying from every direction soldiers fell to the ground, more soldiers arrive on horseback they jump off their horses and join the fight, hacking at the soldiers arms and legs, Robin knew he had the soldiers beat charging forward again Robin knew he had to end this, with one last slash of his sword the last soldier fell to the ground.
