| Winter 2009/10
It's cold! Colder than it has been for a long time. Snow before and after Christmas, which is unusual in this part on England. We have collected some work and images from this winter together from these pages, enjoy!
The last day of the Christmas term saw Rayleigh Primary School closed due to heavy snow, in fact the snow wasn't that heavy and we didn't close us. It was a 'human error' at a local radio station that meant announcements were made that we were closed, and by the time we were able to get into school the damage was done and we, reluctantly, did close. PLEASE NOTE that the definitive sources for whether the school s affected by weather is this website and our Text Messaging service, you should not rely on radio announcements. Anyway several members of staff did get into school and Mr E managed to take some pictures of the school in unspoilt snow.
Have a look at RPS in the snow
The first week of January 2010 saw snow everyday, something our children have never experienced. By the end of the week, 8th of January, many other schools in Rayleigh were closed, but we stayed open and our children were able to enjoy the snow altogether. Most classes got to play in the snow at some point or another in during the week. The highlight was on Friday morning, when all of the Juniors went down to our playing field at Spring Gardens to have a snowman building competition. Sadly the snow was not great for snowmen, although anumber of children made a good attempt. Happily it was great fro snowballs. It was wonderful to see so many children have so much fun. Working in a primary school can be a lot of fun!
