| The Pageant
Our pageant was on Friday morning. The whole school dressed up, hundreds of family members came and the sun shone (Good thing too, as we had no Plan B for rain) The pageant was an excellent opportunity for the whole school to see what each year group had been working on during the week. All the children came to the pageant and representatives from each year group presented their work to Good King Hal. It takes a good deal of courage to stand in front of an audeince of well over six hundred people, and all the children didi exceptionally well when they were centre stage.
The king made his way across the playground led by Myal Pyper and some Year Two children who carried the king's banners; the king was then escorted by Lord Tewkesbury (Will Beckett) and he was kept safe by his bodyguard of Year Fours led by Lord Towton (Mr E). The crowds showed their reverences well, all bowing and curtseying when the king drew level with them. The king was then led onto a dias where he took his seat upon a throne. The pageant then went ahead with all the year groups presenting their work starting with Reception and working up to Year Six.
We saw paintings, flags, dances, weapons, food, portraits and even a mummer's play. The school orchestra played several pieces with a couple of excellent solo efforts too. The Whole event was a great success, it was a wonderful way to share all the hard work that had taken place during the week. The King was so impressed, he made Lord Rayleigh (Mr Malcolm) The Earl of Essex.
We would like to thank all the children for working so hard during the week and everyone else for coming and supporting us in this terrific event.
